Julia D. Shaw has an extensive professional career with over twenty years of experience in community service, public relations, marketing and event management. Shaw believes “It takes teamwork to make a dream work” and will fill a key role in the development and implementation of special events, workshops, conferences, youth programs, expos and festivals.
Shaw recently served as the program manager to Willoughby Neighborhood Senior Center, on-site event manager for several annual events including the Small Business Boot Camp for Women, The National Black Writer’s Conference at Medgar Evers College and The Network Journal Magazine’s two signature events, the 25 Influential Black Women in Business Awards and the 40 Under Forty Achievement Awards.
Recent career highlights includes receiving an award in 2015 as one of the Extraordinary Women of Southeast Queens from the Southeast Queens Chamber of Commerce. In 2014, Shaw was profiled in the Alumni Spotlight on their website of Workshop in Business Opportunities (WIBO). In September of 2013, Shaw became an author, as one of the business women sharing networking tips in the Amazon Bestselling book entitled, Network to Increase Your Net Worth.
Shaw worked as a publicist for celebrity authors’ radio personality Michael Baisden, television personality Iyana Vanzant and TV physiologist Dr. Jeff Gardere early in their literary careers. A partial list of Shaw’s clients include Circle of Sisters Expo, Cambria Heights Development Corp., BET Books, the International African Arts Festival, Brooklyn Arts Council, Pfizer, Inc., and Kimani Press, a division of Harlequin Enterprises to name a few. Shaw attended CUNY York College earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
